Cell & tissue engineering
Cell & tissue engineering research at Carnegie Mellon both engineers and studies individual cells, multicellular systems, organoids, and tissue and whole organ constructs. This research explores how system cues lead to cellular and tissue development and dysfunction, the use of organoids and microtissues for examining the impact of drug therapies and diseases, and the methods and creation of 3D tissues and organs. Faculty collaborate extensively with researchers in biomaterials, robotics, computational modeling, image processing, and microfluidics, bringing together a broad range of research tools to generate greater real-world impact.
