AI & computational biomedical engineering
AI and computational biomedical engineering research at Carnegie Mellon builds on CMU’s strengths in computer science, machine learning, computational neuroscience, and mechanics. This interdisciplinary research spans theoretical and applied approaches to biomedical challenges, supported by close interactions with research partners including the Griffin School of Computer Science, the Neuroscience Institute, and Computational Biology.
Research spans theoretical investigations of biomedical phenomena from first principles to the development of computational tools and their fundamental biomedical applications. Researchers also develop new data analysis techniques and apply computational approaches to problems across biomedicine.
